Having emigrated from China at an early age, Shirley shares similar experiences of communication difficulties with the children that she serves.

Being passionate about inclusion and neurodiversity, an avid traveler, and fluent in Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin) and conversational in Japanese, she feels determined to give back to the global community as a multilingual speech-language pathologist.

Shirley received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of California, San Diego and Master of Science degree in Speech-Language Pathology from California State University, East Bay. She is a certified member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and the California Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Dispensers Board.

She specializes in bilingual diagnostic evaluations and therapy treatments with children ranging in ages from 1-11 years old. She works with a diverse client group with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Down syndrome, cognitive impairments, developmental delays, learning disabilities, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, fluency disorders, language disorders, articulation and phonological disorders.

  • Hanen Certified with “It Takes Two to Talk” – providing parents and caregivers with core strategies to create rich and language-stimulating environments for their children

Aside from helping families and children, she travels the world with her partner and solo! She has been to 33 countries and can’t wait for more!

Shirley老師小的時從中國移民來美國。當時的她並不會英文,親身經歷過溝通困難的經驗和學習新語言的難處,因此更能理解有語言語音障礙的小孩無法溝通時感到的沮喪。Shirley能說流利的中文(廣東話和普通話)和基本的日語。她成為語言治療師原因是為了回饋自己的社區,服務說中文的家庭和小孩。

Shirley老師擁有加利福尼亞大學聖地亞哥分校的心理學學士學位和加利福尼亞州立大學東灣分校的語言病理學理學碩士學位。 她是美國言語聽覺協會(ASHA)和加州言語聽覺協會的認證會員,和通過Hanen機構針對輔導家長幫助有語言遲緩的小孩“It Takes Two to Talk”的認證。

Shirley老師服務1-11歲之間的兒童,提供遠程雙語診斷評估以及治療。 她幫助過許多不同的患者,包括自閉症譜系障礙,唐氏綜合症,認知障礙,發育遲緩,學習障礙,兒童期言語失用症,流利性障礙,語言障礙,發音障礙和語音障礙等等兒童。
