Sharmini graduated with a Master of Science Degree in Speech and Language Pathology from the National University of Singapore in 2012. She has full registration with the Allied Health Professions Council (Singapore).

Sharmini has worked in both clinic and community-based settings (working with children and adolescents) as well as an international school and in the preschool sector. She has also worked with adults with intellectual disabilities at an employment training centre. Sharmini has a strong interest in Developmental Language Disorder among preschoolers.

She converses fluently in English, Tamil and Malay. Sharmini has attended several professional development courses such as DIR Floortime 101 and Social Thinking workshops.
